"Whirling Into the Forest Primeval"

The view, at 7,100 feet, extended for at least 100 miles. The 9,000-foot Mount Begbie and the glacier covering its north face towered above. All around were mountains and glaciers, and views extending down the valley into Revelstoke, which lies at 1,500 feet. On the way up, Mr. Shafto had the pilot fly over some hiking routes. It was a breathtaking feeling of floating in a bubble around walls of rock and above mountain lakes that were melting just enough to give a hint of their turquoise waters.
